Tawnie Thompson

Tawnie Thompson is an energetic and charismatic young woman with deep roots in the western way of life. Her journey began at just four years old, following in the footsteps of four generations of rodeo enthusiasts. Passionate about the sport that shaped her, Tawnie continually seeks new ways to stay involved, from barrel racing to rodeo queening, and even announcing. She thrives on embracing new challenges and opportunities within the western community.

A lifelong learner, Tawnie's dedication to education is as strong as her love for rodeo. Graduating high school early, she began college at the age of 16, driven by a desire to expand her knowledge and skills. Rodeo has not only been her passion but also a vehicle for adventure, taking her across three Canadian provinces and nine American states—all in pursuit of her love for the western lifestyle.

Tawnie's rodeo queen journey began in 2021 when she was crowned Miss Alberta High School Rodeo Queen. She made history by winning the title again in 2022, becoming the first two-time winner. Beyond rodeo, Tawnie is a dedicated community leader, serving as the Chair, Social Media Manager, and Graphics Team Member for the Drayton Valley Youth Advisory Committee, an extension of the town council. Through her work, she helps foster a safe and thriving environment for local youth.

Representing her hometown of Drayton Valley as a rodeo queen has been a lifelong dream. Tawnie is proud to showcase the vibrant spirit of her community to Canada and beyond. Her life motto, “Be the good you wish to see in the world,” reflects her commitment to making a positive impact wherever she goes.
