In Bareback Riding, a rider must stay on a bucking horse for 8 seconds using only one hand to hold onto a rigging. The horse’s powerful and unpredictable movements make this event thrilling.
Tie-Down Roping
Tie-Down Roping, also known as calf roping, involves a cowboy on horseback chasing down a calf and roping it as quickly as possible. The rider then dismounts and ties three of the calf’s legs together.
Saddle bronc
Similar to bareback riding, saddle bronc riders must stay on a bucking horse for 8 seconds. They use a specialized bronc saddle and must maintain proper form and control while the horse bucks.
Steer Wrestling
In steer wrestling, also known as bulldogging, a cowboy on horseback chases a steer and then jumps off to wrestle it to the ground. The goal is to immobilize the steer as quickly as possible.
Ladies Barrel Racing
Barrel Racing is exclusively for female rodeo competitors. It involves a cloverleaf pattern around barrels, and the rider with the fastest time wins precision and speed are key in this event.
Team Roping
Team Roping features two cowboys working together. One cowboy ropes the steer’s head, while the other ropes its hind legs. Teamwork and accuracy are crucial in this event.
